Description

This Project has been prepared in partnership with the company Deltares (Netherlands). The main objective of the analytical work is to consider ways that the policy, institutional and planning framework can incorporate climate change and disaster risk into the road sector in Albania. The objective will be achieved through researching the climate and seismic vulnerability of the national road network in Albania and considering approaches may help to improve the resilience of road assets. The consultant study work has covered the following main tasks: - Conduct disaster and climate risk assessment for transport infrastructure assets for river flood events, coastal flooding and landslide based on different scenarios of climate change, and seismic hazard. - Assessment of current and future network costs (risk assessment) associated with the disruption of critical part of the national road network by the hazard identify in the previous activity Identification of several interventions to increase the resilience of the roads, bridges and assessment of their robustness and cost-efficiency and development of a risk mitigation plan for the transport sector
